Our last day.... Edinburgh

I hate thinking that this is my last day because it has been so fun!  Today we went to the Edinburgh National Gallery, the Edinburgh Castle and the the National Museum.  Edinburgh is different from home because everything looks like a castle.  I saw the Crown Jewels (the Honors) of Scotland.

We didn't know what this trip would be like....we hoped it would be good...it wasn't .  It was fantastic!  Reid is an adventurer , an archeologist, and a humorist.  He is very mature for his 10 years.  We were so proud and delighted to travel with him.

Reid has Curr family blood on his mother's side and Kerr family blood on his father's side.   That's why Reid has a split personality. .....The kerrse of the Currs.   Nana says that's why I like blood pudding.

Finding the Curr Croft

As we left Loch Ness, Nana and I saw an enigma (vocab word) in the lake. Was it a stick or the monster?
Then we hiked to find my great great great great grandfather's croft (farm).  We hiked through some really marshy bogs, sheep and cow pastures to the ruins.  Grandpa found his family farm!  We also saw the headstone of Thomas and Ann Curr, who were my great great great great great grandparents.
Last night we stayed at the Castle Hotel and had a yummy dinner.
Today we left the Castle Hotel after eating more blood pudding and found  Dunnottar Castle.   Look this up on the Internet. It's the most famous castle in Scotland.  It was very,very interesting and surrounded by cliffs.

Tomorrow is our last day and we are in Edinburgh!

1st Day at Loch Ness

This morning I had tea, porridge, and black pudding (pig blood and oats).  It was awesome!  We are staying on a really nice farm near Loch Ness.  There are sheep that came up to us.  They were really nice except one butted us.
I'm starting to look a little more Scottish each day.
We found the Loch Ness monster!!!!!
I ended my day by going higher into The Highlands on a trampoline.

Scotland

Yesterday we entered Scotland and saw a bagpiper in a kilt on the border.  Then we walked around Jedburgh.  I played on a Scottish play structure. Then we went to Ferniehirst Castle, the home of the Kerr clan.  We saw some black sheep of the family.  Next we went to the Jedburgh jail.  I got sentenced to the ultimate penalty by my Grandpa.  

For lunch I had a special kind of beer.

Uh-oh....I got stuck in my souvenir handcuffs from the jail.

My visit to Salisbury

We drove from London to Salisbury where we met my 4th cousin, Ian Curr, his wife Clare and son Thomas!
Our day began with a charity walk for the local hospital at the Wilton House castle.   Ian played the Northumbrian pipes for the walkers!
We then visited the awesome Salisbury cathedral with its huge spire.  I saw the oldest working clock in the world, with lots of gears.  There was a mummified cat and rat at the art museum.  They were put inside the walls of houses to chase away rats.
We tried on some hats -new styles in Salisbury.

We saw Stonehenge, a World Heritage site, as we headed north for our next adventure.
